What Makes a Show Quality Cayuga Duckling?
Show quality Cayuga ducklings are selected for the full APA breed standard — intense iridescent black plumage with beetle-green sheen in males, correct body type and carriage, proper bill color, and calm temperament that handles the show environment well. Our selection process begins at hatch and continues through the brooding period, with show-prospect birds identified early based on feather quality, body structure, and genetic documentation.
Our Cayuga Genetics
Mr. Lemonade, our lead drake, won Best Old Drake at the 2025 APA National Show. Our hens have placed at the Missouri State Fair, the Ozark Empire Fair, and the Missouri-Illinois State Poultry Association Championships. Austin Noah, a USA Duck Team network member, won Junior National Champion with our Cayuga Romeo and Juliet. These are not backyard ducks with show potential — these are proven national-level genetics available to serious exhibitors and breeders.
Cayuga Duckling Tiers
We offer ducklings at three tiers. Show prospect ducklings are individually evaluated and selected for APA standard conformance, sold with genetics documentation and parentage information. Breeder quality ducklings are from the same genetic line but not individually evaluated for show standard — ideal for building a breeding flock with strong genetics. Homesteader ducklings are unsexed straight-run from the general hatch, ideal for backyard flocks, egg production, and meat. All tiers come from the same nationally ranked genetic line.
Cayuga Duckling Availability
We hatch year-round with peak availability in spring and early summer. Current hatch is underway — we have approximately 18 teenagers at five weeks, approximately 70 ducklings at ten days old approaching yard-ready, and a fresh hatch in progress now.
